Valdez Ski Report – March 25, 2015 2000AKT
Another classic Chugach day in Thompson Pass with skinners finding plenty of powder happiness in isolation mainly on shaded north aspect beyond Little Odessey. Some wind crust and sun crust softened up later in the day.
AVALANCHE – Very little is any natural activity and old debris piles are aging nicely and long with stouter slabs all bonded to lower layers, thoughI did tap out some hollows areas, but stability remain good on most aspects and elevations.
Weather – A pesky, but welcome low will stall over Valdez Thur-Friday delivering some refresher amounts of 6-8″ in Thompson Pass with lighter, wetter totals at sea level and spring begins asserting itself with brisk southerly flows. By Saturday, things should be vastly improved with good skiing likely for the weekend with temps in the mid to upper 30’s and light winds.
