Valdez Ski Report – December 28, 2014 (Video)

Nice weekend comes to an end in Thompson Pass as skinners were out in good numbers.  Also noticeable are quite a large number of human-triggered slides along the front range too numerous to list here, so the hazard I mentioned in the last report has been confirmed by unskilled and skilled “testers”.  Should get 10″ or more of “upside down” snow in the Pass by Wednesday for New Years Event, with snow changing to rain likely in Valdez in the short term as another deep low attempts to break down the persistant high ridge to the high. It fails,   and high pressure reasserts itself deeper into the central Chugach. Gusty north winds build maybe to watch criteria through the weekend. This could be our first significant wind event in the Pass this season.

Nice ski today…
