Flood Watch With Dusting – August 24, 2016

For those watching water level tonight and Friday, this real-time gauge in Keystone Canyon is worth watching. It’s been operating for over a year and when it gets to 10ft, then things start flooding. With saturated ground and models indicating heavy rain for the next 24 hours, resident should remain alert. We’ve only had about 2″ since Monday. But any thing that brings that total nearer 8″ for the short term could become worrisome.

The other issue compounding the heavy run-offs are some of the highest tides of the season which will cause rivers to back up and potentially cause issues closer to tidelands and roads. Weather breaks on Friday and spring like temps return with cooler nights, fall colors, some light dustings above 6500′, and good-berry picking on the Pass
